Starting in about mid-May and lasting until September, a species of marine plankton, called a dinoflagellate grows in number in the Indian River Lagoon. This little critter emits a brief 1/10 second of light when the water around it is disturbed. That doesn’t sound like much but put billions of these little guys together and you have underwater fireworks that you will never forget.
Our tours are limited to no more than 8 people so you don’t get lost in the crowd and can enjoy the intimacy of this spectacular show. Our guides will take you to the best spots to see the phenonium known as bioluminescence and tell you about how it happens.
IMPORTANT SEASONAL UPDATES (posted 21 Aug)
The bio has never been brighter, glowing at a good 9 out of 10 lately, and we haven't hit the peak yet!
SpaceX has announced a planned lift-off of a Falcon rocket on Saturday 27 August at 9:32 PM. So, on this night you'll get to see some mangrove tunnels, a beautiful sunset, bright bioluminescence, a starry sky, and a rocket launch like you've never seen before! Of course, weather permitting.
